Leadership Lessons

micro-Learning Leadership Sessions

OPPORTUNITY: In spring of 2020 the Music for All Summer Symposium was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Music for All wanted to provide music educators and their students with a series of online learning video lessons. The idea was to edit existing video, with new faculty interviews, into a series of short 15-minute± Leadership Lessons and micro-Learning Summer Sessions.

RESULTS: Fran Kick curated, designed, edited, produced, and published 35 individual virtual video lessons in 3 weeks, gaining high praise of major sponsors who continued their financial support to Music for All, including the U.S. Marines and Yamaha. Presented as the Music for All 2020 Summer Leadership Lessons, this online asynchronous virtual content totaled over 3 hours of programming—receiving positive praise from students, educators, and sponsors—and generating 41,742 unique visitors to the newly launched education portal education.musicforall.org from June—August 2020.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Fran’s on-demand consultation was crucial for our organization’s success. His help in reimagining the company’s strategies after the loss of our summer programming greatly contributed to our recent successes and overall sustainability.
