Great Oaks Career Campuses
Choices & Challenges Student Conference
OPPORTUNITY: This career exploration program brought 8th-10th grade students from across the Cincinnati Metropolitan Region onto a college campus to experience a series of hands-on sessions with college faculty—representing areas such as Business Technologies, Innovative Technologies, Health and Public Safety, Humanities, and Sciences.
RESULTS: Every year from 1999 to 2013, Fran Kick helped kick-off this unique collaborative event. Fran set the tone for the entire day and engaged the students with a developmentally appropriate networking activity. Messages included paying attention, responding appropriately to the opportunities available, as well as putting more into what you do and how you do it.
Fran Kick worked with Cincinnati State and all the Great Oaks Career Campuses over the course of 14 consecutive years to present this annual full-day student conference. Great Oaks is one of the largest career and technical education districts in the U.S. and provides career development, workforce development, and economic development services to individuals, business, industry, labor, communities, and organizations.
