| Thank you for your interest in our KICK IT IN programs for parents. Everything from parent teacher open house nights to community volunteer trainings and parent association conferences, KICK IT IN has been successful at "turning on the light bulbs" and giving participants more than just "something to think about." What is KICK IT IN? KICK IT IN is all about motivating kids to motivate themselves, helping parents instill more self-motivation and personal leadership in their children. This fast-paced, high-energy, interactive, presentation (anywhere from 1 to 3 hours in length) provides parents with entertaining educational information that's insightful and inspiringly humorous. This program can stand by itself as an evening event or as part of a conference, series, or school year KICK off type program. The program focuses on:
- Helping parents help students pay attention and respond appropriately to life
- Discovering the generational disconnects that sometimes get in the way
- Perspective sharing and understanding how we look at things differently
- The power of example because actions speak louder than words
- Positive and constructive vs. negative and critical - you make a big difference
- Getting more students as well as parents involved and cooperatively contributing
- Instilling the self-discipline of focus and the personal power of attention
- Positively reinforcing your kids to make positive choices
- Providing parents with both simple strategies and practical tactics
The program can also be presented as part of a parent or community volunteer training program. In this longer workshop mode, participants are involved in many activities (group, partner, and individual). Parents practice applying the strategies and tactics with hands-on, here-and-now, role-playing experiences. Everyone is involved in a supportive, non-threatening, enthusiastic atmosphere, learning the importance of their individual awareness, attitude and approach. The volunteer training program focuses on:
- Help your students discover and realize their own potential
- Build the strategies and skills necessary for increasing self-motivation
- Inspire a more pragmatic, practical, positive attitude in your students
- More leading by example, less carrot-and-sticking
- Help implement a more constructive results-oriented approach
- Provide pragmatic steps to improve self-motivation
- Diminish your dependence on carrot-and-stick strategies
- Expand your understanding of What Makes Kids KICK at home and at school

When can we KICK IT IN? This program works well at any point during the year. There is always great interest early in the school year or semester. Perhaps a KICK off back-to-school parent session, at parent open house or during parent teacher conference day.The workshop version for volunteer training works super as a keynote follow up, conference breakout session, special staff/parent meetings, interactive retreat programs and district workshop series. The entire program has a strong message for anyone who teaches, parents, or works with students. Many variations have been utilized effectively to help everyone KICK IT IN! We especially enjoy customizing and focusing the program to better meet your individual needs.

"Thank you again for the sensational and motivational program you presented to the parents of Lubbock ISD. The comments are still circulating about the positive, energetic, and high-energy program that many agree should be seen by all." |

"You obviously struck a responsive chord with parents who attended the program. Their comments afterwards were heartfelt and sincere. I was impressed with your cooperative can-do spirit. In your informal contacts with our staff and the Farmington Families in Action volunteers you demonstrated a sincere interest and enthusiasm for our on-going programs. Such external feedback is invaluable." |

"Nearly three months have passed since you came to Ridgewood to be the final presenter for our speaker series, and although I thanked you at the time I wanted to thank you again now because people are STILL talking about your visit! Having you address all of our high school students, our student leaders, and our school parents in one day was a tall order, but you filled that order perfectly, and all three presentations went way beyond any expectations that my colleagues and I could have had. I found it most exciting to watch the dynamic of each room, as the attendees went from being audience members to being participants. It's interesting that students and parents can have the same comments about anything, let alone a 'lecturer.' But perhaps the differing comments say more - when a fifteen year old says the program was 'inspiring and introspective' and a fifty year old says it was 'awesome,' you know you've really hit the mark!" |

Jeffrey Haas, Teacher/Department Chair, Ridgewood High School, New Jersey

"Thanks to you, parents are feeling a new, energized sense of commitment to their children's learning, and they intend to lend supportive help and encouragement to it daily." |

Principal, Holy Family School, New York |

"Thank you for presenting such a dynamic, energetic, and motivating workshop to the volunteers and parents of Centerville City Schools. Your enthusiasm and humor brought the topic to life. These are a few of the comments people wrote on the evaluations concerning what was most helpful to them: '...ways to be more positive so that I don't encourage negative behavior.' '...handout well constructed, tons of information.' 'Thanks for making this fun. It made me want to get better and work harder.' We deeply appreciate the time and effort you devoted to preparing and presenting this workshop. The flyers, posters, and news releases were effective in publicizing the event as evidenced by the number in attendance. Your commitment to helping adults and students work together more effectively was obvious in every aspect of your presentation." |
